TalisWare Backup™ is a software utility designed to create backup copies
of your strategic files at an alternate location on your hard drive.
You specify which files get backed up, when and how often. You can,
for example, have your specified files backed up every time the computer
is turned on; or you can set an interval as small as one hour or as large
as 30 days and have TalisWare Backup zip up the files in the background
automatically.
The backup files are in a standard "zip" format, and each backup version
has a unique name so that multiple copies can provide a history of the
changes that have occurred to original files. You determine how many
backups will be kept, and if a particular backup is crucial you can protect
it from being erased and write a comment explaining why you want it kept.
Please note that TalisWare Backup is meant to be used to safely keep
multiple versions of files, not as a replacement for your regular tape,
CD or removable backup. If you are using TalisWare Backup on a
standalone computer, the backup files are usually on the same physical
hard disk as the originals, so in the event of a hard disk failure, you
will want to be sure you have completed your regular backup to some
other media.
